Any wedding photographer out there always looks forward to the opportunity to travel for a job. I’ve had the privilege of having the opportunity to do that a few times over the years, but I have never been overseas. A few weeks ago, I got that very opportunity! I got to shoot a wedding in the Grand Cayman Islands for my boss Amir and his now wife Kelly.
I had to get my passport in order, pack all of my gear in a carry-on, and of course… pack my swim trunks. Unlike my trips in the past, I was fortunate enough to be able to bring my fiancé Rachel along with me. She was in charge of video for the weekend – more about that later.
We arrived on the island on Friday night and headed straight for the welcome party which was on the beach. People were having a great time and at the end, they released sky lanterns from the beach.
The next day Rachel and I had a day off to enjoy the beach. I have never seen water so blue in my life! I typically don’t get into the ocean unless it’s on a jet ski or sail boat but couldn’t help but to become drawn to the crystal blue waters to relax.
After a day of rest, the wedding day came and it was time to get down to business. Kelly and Amir had rented a beach front condo at the Caribbean Club for the week and every activity from the welcome party to the ceremony was taking place on the beach in front of their condo.
The wedding ceremony took place later that afternoon. Music was provided by a steel drum musician that played tropical renditions of various love songs.
Kelly looked radiant in her dress as she emerged from her suite and the backdrop for the ceremony couldn’t have been more beautiful.
Once the ceremony ended, the reception was held inside of the hotel and much fun was had by all.
Rachel and I really enjoyed our time down in the Cayman and hope to return one day. Here are some more pictures from the wedding.
